Dr. Karen Simon grew up in Green River, Wyoming. She attended Casper College and the University of Wyoming before moving to California for Optometry School. She is a 1998 graduate of the Southern California College of Optometry. After graduation, she completed a residency in hospital based optometry in Sells, Arizona at the USPHS IHS Hospital where she received extensive training in the area of diabetic eye disease. She presented research on the prevalence of diabetic eye disease at the American Academy of Optometry’s annual meeting in 1999.
Before opening Eye Concepts Vision Center, Dr. Simon practiced for several years at a large ophthalmology group and then in a commercial location in Moline, Illinois and in Chandler, Arizona. She received the 2007 “Doctor of the Year” while practicing in Chandler.
In her free time Dr. Simon enjoys backpacking, running, and hiking with her husband, Andrew, a chiropractor and their two daughters Libby and Avery.
